Mutabor is a series of oil paintings made between 2006 and 2010. The inspiration came of repainting and old art history with a new twist visual jokes. My favourite painting teacher Professor Jan Rzehak gave me yearly Dutch journal from 1974 with art reproductions, which pages I decided to cover with paint and collages. Later the pages from that journal became my source for creating oil paintings on canvas. 

Mutabor(Latin for "I shall be transformed") explores transformation as both subject and method. Each painting begins with a reproduction of a work from art history, which is manipulated through collage, drawing, painting, and juxtaposition within the pages of the artist's journals. By disrupting familiar images and placing them in unexpected relationships, their original meanings are challenged and new narratives begin to emerge. These journal explorations serve as a space for experimentation rather than preparation, allowing intuition, chance, and association to shape the work. The final paintings are not reproductions of either the historical originals or the journal pages, but independent compositions that reinterpret cultural memory, shifting inherited imagery into new psychological and contemporary contexts.
